2008 Lincoln MKZ | new car review
Showing a new direction
for Lincoln, the MKZ is a mid-size luxury sedan and for 2008, gets a
redesigned front end with its traditional waterfall grille,
additional bright work and distinctive headlamps.
Lincoln MKZ is based on
the same platform as the Mazda6. While the car shares 35% of its body
panels with the Ford Fusion (not available in the Middle East) and
Mercury Milan, the interior is completely unique to bring the car up
to Lincoln luxury standards. Ventilated seats, wood and leather
interiors and satin-nickel accents endorse the Lincoln luxury claims.
Riding on 17 inch alloys,
the MKZ is available in the Middle East in all-wheel drive form; a
distinct advantage to its competitors. Power comes from a 3.5-litre
V6 developing 263bhp and 337Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed
auto box.
From its price point,
Lincoln has positioned the MKZ just below the likes of Mercedes C
class, BMW 3 series and Lexus ES. Competition also comes from
Chevrolet Caprice – another American offering.
With its rather bland
styling like many cars it lacks that intangible bit of magic that
would make it utterly compelling buy, unless if one is a fan of
American ride. Look around and you will notice or the lack thereof
Lincoln MKZ fan club.
