2008 Ford Focus | new car review

Posted on Jun 24, 2009 by

The current generation Focus has undergone a sea of changes in its mid-life cycle which Ford says is its most extensive ever. It is still the benchmark car in its class (at least  in Europe) and is a favourite with the fleet segment. The Focus comes in three different body packages and a multitude of trim levels including Ambiente, Trend, Ghia and Titanium. Plus, four themes: Sport, Comfort, Style  nd Business are dedicated for the interior.

All Focus models are stylish and functional, sharing the confidently sculpted, thrusting forward bonnet and Ford’s kinetic family grille design. At the rear, the aggressively  sloping roofline remains a signature cue distinguishing this car as a Focus through and through. Accommodation
is better than the body size suggests and the interior focuses on a cockpit theme wherein the controls are inclined towards the driver. In the Middle East, the Focus will be available with the 1.6-litre Sigma (119 horsepower) and the 2.0-litre Zetec (151 horsepower) engines and will offer a Durashift 5-speed manual transmission as well as the Durashift 4-speed automatic.

In addition to its usual bouquet of airbags, the new Focus offers optional side thorax airbags and inflatable side curtains (from A-pillar to C-pillar), seatbelt pretensioners  with load-limiting retractors and ISOFIX child seatfittings. Optional adjustable pedals give a made-to-measure fit for drivers of any stature, enhancing comfort and safety. The Focus is sufficiently well executed to satisfy the segments it represents, ensuring that it offers something for everybody, standing up to scrutiny against any car in this class.
