2008 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano | new car review

Posted on Jun 24, 2009 by

The 599 GTB Fiorano has been described as ‘The F40 for the 21st Century’. This 620hp, V12 masterpiece combines the elegance of design with the race-developed technology from the Scuderia Formula 1 team. This two-seater completes the overhaul of the entire range which started with the 612 Scaglietti.

The 599 GTB Fiorano boasts absolutely blistering performance with its Enzo Ferrari-derived 6.0-litre V12 engine which punches out 620 hp at 7600 rpm.  The 599 GTB roars from 0 to 100 kph in an astonishing 3.7 seconds and from 0 to 200 kph in just 11 seconds with a top speed in excess of 330 kph.

The stunning performance is aided thanks to a power-weight ratio of under 6.1 lbs/hp, a stunning Pininfarina-designed body and an all-aluminum spaceframe – ingredients necessary for the ultimate in driving pleasure, handling and sportiness.

The 599 GTB Fiorano’s design is very supple, with its form signifying its sporting roots yet striking that each new angle brings something new to light. The curvaceous forms say it all about its extreme sportiness which yet retains a unique sophistication. It is the same on the inside with a balance between the car’s sporty vocation and the feeling of intimacy. The passenger areas of the car are trimmed in sumptuous leather while the driver area and controls boast more high-tech detailing in carbon-fibre and aluminium.

Surprisingly easy to drive, the 2008 is an incredibly rapid and thoroughly sorted driving machine.
