2007 Mazda3 | new car review

Building on the success of the sedan which was introduced in the market in 2004, extended the range with the version of its popular small mid-size offering. Developed and designed to set new standard globally, the hatchback looks to appeal to the young and trendy, thanks to its dynamic styling and youthful performance.

The Mazda3 is one in a series of new generation cars that Mazda began introducing for the 21st century. It carries on the embodiment of Mazda’s unique Zoom-Zoom Spirit and the new design philosophy of emotion in motion. The Mazda3 incorporates all the merits and lessons learnt in the development of the previous models of Mazda’s new generation line-up including the highly successful Mazda6. It offers an exemplary driving experience, stylish design and a feel of high quality.

Under the hood of the Mazda3 is the new generation 1.6L MZR engine. To boost torque and power the engine features an intake manifold with equal length runners, S-VT (Sequential Valve Timing) and VIS (Variable Induction System). In addition to these technologies the electronic control 4-speed Activematic AT and other systems help to achieve clean performance.

Designers worked from a theme of ‘Excitement and Comfort’, seeking powerful, dynamic styling. At the same time the inside reflects a high-grade interior that offers both sporty excitement and comfort. The long wheelbase, short overhangs, high deck and compact-looking cabin present elegant coupe-style proportions with overtones of power and dynamism. Ergonomics and sensory engineering techniques were employed in designing the layout of the instrument panel’s central stack, with displays and information readouts at the top (nearer the driver’s eye line) and controls and switches lower down within easy reach of the hands. Refinement and comfort is conveyed by both the shape and operating feel of switches, and the smooth and satisfyingly solid door operation.
