2007 Nissan Maxima | new car review

For , the receives some enhancements with a slightly redesigned exterior and an interior which has been spruced up.

The Maxima’s heart remains its powerful, award-winning 3.0-litre 6-cylinder DOHC engine, now rated at 227 bhp and 288 Nm of torque. This engine has been listed in the ‘Ten Best Engines’ list no fewer than twelve times. Year after year, the VQ engine wins awards. Drive the Maxima and you’ll immediately understand why. Response is smoother and more powerful than ever thanks to new refinements. And precision engineering gives the VQ a rare combination of compact size, fuel-efficiency and remarkable quietness.

Transmission systems can be specified between a manual and an automatic, although the latter is more sought after.

A revised multi-link beam suspension and a stiffer structure boosts handling and ride. The Maxima rides on aluminium alloy wheels, which along with the rear spoiler and relatively high shoulder line give it a surefooted presence on the road.

The Maxima, although getting long in the tooth, still manages to retain some intrinsic values in the interior, which is simple and basic yet does manage to reflect the car’s sporty ambitions to good effect. Seats are well cushioned and surprisingly supportive. The dashboard is well equipped with all necessary information and controls within easy sight and reach of the driver.

Retardation from speed is provided by disc brakes all around incorporating four-channel ABS and EBD.

Like mentioned earlier, the Maxima, as available now in the Middle East, is now in its twilight hours, so the shortcomings do show up. could do well to get the new Maxima out here soon. It has become a cult car of sorts in the region and the company has o take advanatge of its pedigree to further enhance its model line-up.
