2008 Dodge Durango | new car review

Posted on Sep 22, 2008 by

Designed from the start as a refined sport utility vehicle, the 2008 Durango fulfils the ‘utility’ promise of sport utility vehicles. The second step in Dodge’s revival after the awesome Viper helped the company back into the limelight; the Durango is a that can seat seven people on three rows of seats. Two trim levels are offered in the Middle East – SLT and Limited.

Powering the Durango is the huge 345hp 5.7-litre V8 Hemi which now comes with active fuel management and multiple displacement technology for better fuel consumption. The new chassis also endows the Durango with better dynamics in ride and handling, whilst increasing comfort levels on the inside.

Using the more generous interior space to its full potential, Dodge has added extra comfort and convenience features to the Durango. The rear doors on the Durango can open up to 84 degrees to provide easy passage; second row back seats offer an available recline feature and second row passengers also have their own climate controls.

Practical features abound, the Durango is also equipped with front air bags and optional side-curtain air bags that cover all three rows of seating – it’s one of the few sport utility vehicles offering this safety feature.

The Durango is tough guy on the city streets but a lesser muscle in the sand. It’s ideally suited in terms of size and power for making a macho statement on the tarmac and demands respect.
