The is the smallest in the brand’s line-up. This modern car is the leanest and most agile car in Aston’s three-model line up – after all it is intended as a more accessible model to compete with cars such as the Porsche 911.

The Vantage can easily be mistaken for a DB9, but only once. The easiest recognition point is the sharp crease that extends back from the front fender vents. It is lot muscular and looks more purposeful than its bigger engined brother. Thanks to the V8 up front, the Vantage is stubbier, while the absence of rear seats emphasises the flare of the rear fenders.

The interior is ladled with leather and suede and the feeling is like being trapped inside a purse. These organic materials are interlaced with metallic cues which spruce up the inside. As befitting a sports car, seats are enveloping and in conjunction with the well placed steering wheel and pedals, provide an optimum driving position.

The V8 Vantage is powered by a 4.3-litre quad-cam 32-valve V8 which produces 380hp at 7,000 rpm and 410Nm at 5,000 rpm. Though based loosely on Jaguar’s AJ-V8 engine architecture, this engine is unique to and
features race-style dry-sump lubrication, which enables it to be mounted low in the chassis for an improved centre of gravity. The engine is front mid-mounted with a rear-mounted transaxle, giving a 49/51 front/rear weight distribution. The V8 Vantage can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reach 280 km/h. Slotted Brembo brakes are also standard providing surefooted retardation from speed.

The Vantage features a hatchback-style tailgate for practicality, with a large luggage shelf behind the seats. In addition to the , an open version was launched last year, known as the V8 Vantage Roadster.
