’s new XK has set a new record as the company’s best selling model ever in the Middle East. Middle East sold 220 XK cars between April 2006 and December 2006, recording a 26% increase over the previous highest sales record set in 1997 for the older XK.

“We always believed that the XK would contribute to the company turn-around and the strong sales we have been witnessing last year are testament to this fact. The sales are reflection of the public’s belief in Jaguar and in the future cars we will produce,” said Andy Gawthorpe, Managing Director, Jaguar Middle East and North Africa.

In the Middle East, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait have been the strongest markets with 65% of the sales being generated between the two countries. Other markets like Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Lebanon have also contributed to the increase in sales.

Available as a coupe or convertible, the coupe has proved more popular selling 144 units against the 76 units of the convertible. Globally, Jaguar has already sold around 12,000 XK sport cars till date.
