Dubai – AG of Stuttgart has unveiled the second generation model of its successful Cayenne SUV. Entering a new era, the Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo SUV’s will feature new direct injection petrol engines that combine more power delivery as well as better fuel consumption.

The basic version (Cayenne) has a 40 bhp power enhancement and is now driven by a 290 bhp six-cylinder engine, the displacement of which has increased from 3.2 to 3.6 litres. The Cayenne S on the otherhand is now with an even bigger 4.8-litre, naturally aspirated V8 engine, producing a torque of 500 Nm (previously 420 Nm) and an output of 385 bhp, an increase of 45 bhp. The Cayenne Turbo gets a boost of 50 bhp over its predecessor. The new eight-cylinder engine, driven by a twin exhaust-gas turbocharger, produces 500 bhp and 700 Nm (previously 620 Nm).

The engines feature a new system called Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) that helps lower fuel consumption of individual models by over eight percent with savings of up to 15 percent possible under real driving conditions. As before, the new SUV’s will also feature Porsche Traction Management (PTM), Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) as well as Porsche Stability Management (PSM).

The new Cayenne will be available in Porsche showrooms from February 24, 2007.
